Dev Blog: Dance Moves
Oh no, look what I've done!
How did we get here?
Well this is the first dance move I did years ago:
I think some people really did not like it - thought it was stupid. I still like it. Though I know it isn't really a standalone dance move.
Anyway, I thought I would have some fun drawing some new dance moves.
Why?
No concrete reason. Definitely part of it is just for fun.
I thought maybe in some games, when beating a level, your player could do a little dance.
Maybe when you beat a game everyone breaks out in dance.
I also really want to make some sports games and these could be like when you control your player's celebration after scoring a goal.
Anyway, I did these - and I have more I want to do!
But after making these initial ones, I turned them into my dynamic spritesheets.
This allows for all the characters to do the same dance moves - well not all, just the males with this specific body type.
Which makes me actually consider basically keeping it to one male body type for most characters. Like less tall or short people, etc.
But anyway, once I got all of these made and into the game engine, what does it look like?
And here is a longer video of it:
You can actually play this at the end of the stealth prototype!
Not sure what will come of this - maybe I'll make a prototype for a dancing game that could work like guitar hero - but most likely I'll just be sneaking these animations into future games however I can think of it!
